Mamaroneck Avenue Rehabilitation and Bridge Replacement
LKB was engaged to perform final design for reconstruction of 5.4 miles of Mamaroneck Avenue, a heavily traveled signalized roadway that runs partially through a busy urbanized area. The project work included rehabilitation of the existing travel lanes and shoulders through a combination of resurfacing and reconstruction/replacement, installation of a drainage system, as needed, to alleviate localized ponding problems, and replacement of deteriorated curbs and damaged or non-standard guiderail. The work also included removal of portions of raised concrete median to install left turn lanes at eleven intersections, installation of handicap ramps and new striping. All work took place within the existing ROW with no acquisitions required. The roadway is designated as part of a signed bike route and the project included installation of Share the Road signs.
