Route 25 Reconstruction
LKB was responsible for design Phases I-VI for the reconstruction of three miles of a four-lane arterial highway through a congested business area. Initial studies for this roadway project included traffic data collection, traffic analysis, and accident history investigation. The design included intersection improvements, highway widening, drainage improvements, roadway lighting, preparation of ROW and acquisition maps and MPT plans. Also, a roadway improvement impact to off-street parking was evaluated. Utilizing computer photo-simulations, LKB examined three alternative alignments for a public meeting presentation. Major design issues included maintenance of traffic through the business area during construction, maintaining access to over 60 stores, maintaining safe pedestrian access and access for delivery, service and emergency vehicles.
