About this Project
LKB was retained by The Town of Hempstead Department of Engineering to prepare a needs assessment for all roadway and pedestrian bridges owned by the Town, under an on-call agreement. Work tasks included identification of bridges, obtaining and reviewing all relevant information (inventory and inspection reports), and site visits to each structure. From the information gathered, LKB developed a program to allow the Town access to a summary for each bridge which includes whole bridge and individual element ratings, overall site conditions, safety and structural flags. This provided the Town with the ability to immediately identify the owner of each bridge and assist them in prioritizing present (immediate) and/or future (long term) needs at each bridge.
