Hempstead Lake State Park Pedestrian Bridges

About this Project

As part of a larger project including dam restoration and new walking paths, LKB is currently preparing design plans for the construction of three pedestrian bridges over streams leading into Hempstead Lake. The bridges will be constructed of timber superstructures with concrete abutments and range from 20 to 50 feet in length. The pedestrian bridges will be designed to handle walking paths, as well as emergency vehicles. The project is federally funded and is being administered by the New York State Parks along with Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR). LKB has performed preliminary design and is currently preparing detailed design drawings for these new bridges.
