About this Project
The Northport VA Medical Center is a valuable facility providing specialized medical services to our veterans. The 200-plus acre facility is comprised of multiple buildings, an extensive roadway and pedestrian network, and parking areas. Over the years, this facility has experienced significant deterioration and is not in accordance with current ADA standards. LKB is currently providing parking lot and pedestrian access design for the Main Hospital Building and Ambulance Bay. These buildings are considered Mission Critical, therefore, new building/parking lot setbacks, security measures and strict ADA compliance must be maintained. Improvements include over five acres of reconstructed parking lots, handicap accessible routes, complete site re-grading, sidewalks and ramps to accommodate handicap accessibility, new signage and LED lighting, a new parking booth with automatic barrier arms, additional site drainage and rain gardens, soil and/erosion control (SWPPPS), new brick clad/reinforced concrete retaining walls, new security bollards K Rated, and Xeriscape landscaping.
