Rehabilitation of this 276-foot long steel girder and floorbeam bridge, built in 1890, was accomplished in two stages of construction. The bridge carries Warburton Avenue adjacent to the business district of Hasting-on-Hudson. Work consisted of repairing/replacing steel members, replacing bearings, painting the superstructure, replacing the concrete deck with precast orthotropic deck panels, replacing deck joints, replacing bridge railing, concrete repairs to abutments and piers, and repaving the approaches. During construction, traffic was limited to one direction. Extensive signing and temporary traffic signals were used to re-route vehicles.
LKB performed preliminary and final design services for this County funded project in addition to construction support and construction inspection. Elements for this project included bridge inspection, load ratings, preparation of a Design Approval Document, public meetings, deck curing, and the preparation of preliminary and final construction plans, and construction inspection. The County required that LKB utilize the Local Aid Manual for this project in the event that they were able to procure federal funds.
